Weighted Walks

I have finally reached full Ajumma status. (Well, maybe I need a perm to get the gold star.) I had decided to bring two pound weights on my walks and it has definitely helped my walks feel more accomplished. I’m still walking roughly 10k steps a day and I really enjoy pairing the walks with a pod cast or Audio book (just finish A Court of Thorn & Roses- what an awkward voice for audio book!).

As far as habit building- I googled it and it says it takes about 66 days to form a habit. I have definitely formed a walking habit! Huzzah! I think the NoomVibe helped with that- so far I earned 10$ from walking. It’s not serious money, but it’s fun to have a little monetary motivation!

(I wanted this to be a proper footnote, but I haven’t learned how to do that.)

Ajumma is a Korean term referring to a middle-aged or older married woman, typically in her 40s or older. The word carries cultural significance in South Korea and is often used to describe women who are devoted to their families, exhibit a strong work ethic, and maintain traditional values. Ajummas are commonly associated with characteristics such as nurturing, resilience, and practicality. While the term can be neutral or respectful, in some contexts it may carry stereotypes related to aging, fashion, or social behavior. Understanding the role and image of the ajumma is important in discussions about Korean society, gender roles, and cultural expectations.
